Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Enhanced End User Features at a Glance

Businesses today need their CRM data to be constantly available and immediately accessible. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 provides significant improvements to availability, performance and scalability, ensuring that your CRM data is on hand when needed and without disruptions. These updated tools not only enhance collaboration across all departments, but make it even easier to complete tasks with fewer clicks. There are literally hundreds of new features available in Microsoft CRM 4.0 of great benefit to the end-user. Here are some highlights:

Enhanced Duplicate Checking:Microsoft CRM 4.0 has some built in real-time duplicate checking functionality which affords users the ability to configure their own rules. You can adapt rules covering all entities, fields and even customized fields. Accounts can be compared to contacts as well as leads to contacts. All of this results in cleaner databases for new and existing marketing initiatives, for example.

Outlook Improvements: CRM 4.0 functionality is closely integrated with Outlook. Account names are populated in Outlook contacts, and there are pop-up reminders for CRM activities such as phone calls, letters and faxes. A CRM Load Status Bar is also introduced, and informs users of the process. Outlook CRM breadcrumbs—similar to Word/Excel recent documents lists—allow you to perform bulk email selection and tracking.

Internet Facing Deployment:CRM 4.0 can be accessed from any public URL, eliminating the need to create a VPN connection into a local network. This keeps your employees empowered, up to date, and allows them to make better decisions with full access to your system no matter where they are.

Reporting Wizard:The reporting wizard functionality of Microsoft CRM 4.0 allows end users to quickly and easily create basic reports by adding fields, charts or tables—without having to use SQL. In essence, the IT department is removed from the report writing process. Report schedules can be set by the scheduling wizard. Reports can be executed against offline local data stores and republished in offline mode. Filtered views are also available offline.

Personal Workflows:Microsoft CRM 4.0 now provides embedded Windows Workflow Foundation with improved branching capability and traverse relationships. Workflow now has a Web user interface and Outlook client access. All the details, actions and status on the workflow are visible through the user interface. A sales representative, for instance, can create a quick opportunity workflow for renewals that tracks specifics steps and stages, and maybe fires off an e-mail when certain things happen, without special coding.

Import Data Wizard:CRM 4.0 offers a wizard-based user interface for data import. Users can set up field mapping and save often-used maps. If an import goes wrong, you can take advantage of the new tool to back-out imported records. Additionally, you can import data from any entity into Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 through the Web interface, not just leads, accounts and contacts. Marketing departments can upload campaign information and service people can upload case files. This empowers users to add CRM data themselves immediately without having to go through the IT process.
